What we are looking for:
ODF is looking for a dedicated Forest Officer to provide leadership, training, and coordination for seasonal fire crews while serving as a front-line responder in wildfire operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Function as an advanced initial attack incident commander.
- Serve at higher ICS levels during complex incidents.
- Act as duty officer to provide operational oversight when supervisors are absent.
- The position is responsible for enforcing Oregon’s fire prevention statutes, overseeing engine and crew readiness, and leading wildfire suppression efforts.
Beyond emergency response, this role also supports fuels reduction, timber stand improvements, training, prevention, and post-suppression activities. This position plays a vital part in protecting both natural resources and local communities.
