Project Summary:
The Forest, Vegetation, and Fuels (FVF) monitoring program at Oregon State University is hiring summer field technicians! We are recruiting student crew members for summer 2025. FVF is a multi-party monitoring effort as a part of the Southern Blues Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Project. The field crew will collect data that is used to evaluate the effectiveness of restoration treatments, inform adaptive management and develop social acceptance of restoration strategies.
All positions will be based out of Burns, Oregon. Housing accomodations will be provided however camping may be required. Crews typically work eight consectuve 10-hour days followed by 6 days off in all kinds of weather and are often required to navigate rough roads and carry equipment across uneven terrain to access sites. Field season will begin June 18th 2025 and end September 20th 2025 with some flexibility depending on crew’s schedules and availability.

Botany Student Tech will assist the field botanist in understory vegetation monitoring and will develop technical skills in vegetation monitoring and gain experience conducting field based ecological research. Crew members earn $16-18 an hour and must be currently enrolled as a student.

All positions will gain experience working on collaborative research and have opportunties to engage with program partners including the U.S. Forest Service and Blue Mountains Forest Partners.
